MULTAN: The district administration has arrested three chicken suppliers for selling chicken at high rates during a crackdown against profiteers here on Thursday.
In line with special directives of Deputy Commissioner (DC) Amir Karim Khan, the Assistant Commissioner City Khawaja Umair Mahmood launched a crackdown against the chicken suppliers involved in overcharging. The officers arrested three suppliers for selling live broiler at Rs 215 per kg instead of the controlled rate of Rs 187/kg.
Speaking on the occasion, the assistant commissioner said that the chicken suppliers have been sent to jail under the price control act. He said that the sale and purchase of broiler were being monitored strictly in order to prevent profiteering.
He said that the broiler supply would be checked in urban areas in the next phase. He said that profiteers would be treated with iron hands and added that the supply of commodities would be ensured at controlled rates in order to facilitate masses.
