WORLD FOOD DAY OUR ACTIONS ARE OUR FUTURE

We are honored to host the “World Food Day Celebrations” on Thursday, October 14, 2021 at the COMSTECH Secretariat, Islamabad. This day is celebrated each year to promote awareness and identify solutions contributing to “ZERO HUNGER”. The 2021 World Food Day’s theme is “Our actions are our future better production, better nutrition, a better environment, and better life”.

COMSTECH in collaboration with SAWiE and UPSIGN (UK-Pakistan Science and Innovation Global Network ) is hosting this year’s World Food Day in Pakistan aims to promote knowledge and support good practices for enhancing agriculture and food production through climate-smart agriculture (CSA), conserving our water, and soil resources, and protecting biodiversity.

CSA has a critical role to play for “ZERO HUNGER” and address the climate change crisis. According to the International Monetary Fund (IMF) report, Pakistan is among the top countries facing acute water
scarcity. It is estimated that with the global rise of temperature (+0.5°C to +2°C), agricultural productivity will decrease 8%–10% by 2040. This is an alarming situation for which a national action plan is urgently required.
