Transforming Pakistan’s Cotton for Global Compliance & Climate Impact
SAWiE Ecosystems X Bizpando AG Announce Strategic Partnership

SAWiE Ecosystems and Bizpando AG are pleased to announce the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to accelerate the transition of Pakistan’s cotton sector towards a low carbon, traceable, and internationally compliant supply chain for the global textile and fashion industry.

The MoU was signed by Jasper Bhaumick and Fritz Böhmler at the 83rd ICAC Plenary Meeting, held during the Bremen Cotton Conference.

Driving Regenerative and Compliant Cotton Systems

This collaboration will focus on developing biochar-based regenerative projects across cotton clusters and supply chain partners in Pakistan, delivering:

  • Restoration of soil health and increased soil organic carbon
  • Large-scale carbon sequestration across millions of acres of cotton
  • Alignment with global regulatory frameworks, including EPR, Digital Product Passports (DPP), and CSDDD
  • Implementation of robust MRV systems to support Scope 3 emissions reporting and verified sustainability claims
  • Creation of new income streams for farmers through carbon markets and premium sourcing

Enabling Scope 3 Solutions for Global Brands

The initiative provides a significant opportunity for brands and retailers to address Scope 3 emissions through carbon insetting within their supply chains, enabling:

  • Verified, traceable low-carbon cotton sourcing
  • Integration of carbon reduction and removal into procurement strategies
  • Credible reporting aligned with ESG requirements and emerging EU regulations

As global markets increasingly demand traceability, transparency, and compliance, this partnership positions Pakistan’s cotton sector to meet EU and international sustainability standards, ensuring continued access to premium export markets.

Leadership Perspectives

Fritz Böhmler, CEO, SAWiE Ecosystems, said:

“We are excited to develop this cooperation, which will benefit millions of Pakistani farmers—improving soil health, addressing climate change, sequestering carbon, and generating additional income.”

Jasper Bhaumick, CEO, bizpando AG, added:

“We are delighted to collaborate with SAWiE to improve farmer livelihoods with carbon credits while supporting developing clean, green, and traceable cotton from Pakistan and enabling sustainable supply chains.”

A Climate-Positive Future for Cotton

By integrating regenerative agriculture, biochar innovation, and digital traceability, the partnership aims to transform cotton from a high-impact crop into a climate-positive, compliant fibre, while enabling brands to turn Scope 3 challenges into measurable climate action.

This initiative marks an important step towards building a future-ready, resilient, and globally competitive cotton supply chain.
