6th Session of the UNECE Team of Specialists on ESG Traceability of Sustainable Value Chains in the Circular Economy
SAWiE Ecosystems participated in the 6th Session of the UNECE Team of Specialists on Environmental, Social and Governance (ESG) Traceability of Sustainable Value Chains in the Circular Economy, held at the International Trade Centre (ITC).
The session brought together experts and stakeholders to discuss how improved access to reliable, trusted, and interoperable value-chain data can support more sustainable and transparent global supply chains.
A key focus of the discussions was the United Nations Transparency Protocol (UNTP) and the role of common standards in enabling businesses, governments, and other stakeholders to move beyond fragmented data systems towards seamless, trusted, and verifiable information flows.
Discussions covered critical sectors including minerals and metals, textiles, agriculture, and food, with a focus on strengthening:
Value-chain traceability and transparency
ESG reporting and due diligence
Circular economy practices
Data interoperability and verification
Trust among producers, businesses, regulators, and consumers
For sustainable value chains to become truly transparent and accountable, interoperability must go beyond being a technical requirement. It is a fundamental foundation for building trusted, verifiable, and sustainable value-chain ecosystems.
