This report showcases SAWiE’s journey towards achieving net-zero goals, empowering smallholder farmers, and leveraging cutting-edge technologies to drive agricultural innovation.

Message from Leadership

Chairperson Nosheen Ramzan emphasized SAWiE’s dedication to digital transformation, AI-driven solutions, and climate-smart agricultural practices. She acknowledged the role of government partnerships, international collaborations, and farmer resilience in driving sustainable growth.

CEO Dr. Khalid Mahmood reaffirmed SAWiE’s mission to produce healthy food while preserving soil health, water resources, and biodiversity. He highlighted SAWiE’s ambitious goal of reaching one million farmers by 2030, ensuring a regenerative and equitable agricultural system.

Managing Director Mr. Fritz Boehmler underscored the urgency of climate action, emphasizing SAWiE’s commitment to the UN Sustainable Development Goal 12 (responsible consumption and production).

SAWiE’s Vision and Mission

SAWiE envisions a world free from hunger and poverty, where agriculture is resilient, climate-smart, and fair. By integrating soil, water, plants, biodiversity, and advanced digital tools, SAWiE fosters a sustainable supply chain from farm to fork and farm to fashion.

 Key Projects and Initiatives

1. Pakistan Regenerative Agriculture Alliance (RAAP)

Launched at COP29, RAAP aims to advance sustainable farming across cotton, rice, and energy crops. Key pillars include:

Regenerative Agriculture Cotton Cluster (RACC)

Regenerative Agriculture Rice Cluster (RARC)

Focus on carbon sequestration, soil health improvement, and biodiversity conservation.

2. Organic Cotton Accelerator (OCA) Farm Program

SAWiE partnered with OCA to implement seed trials, enhance fiber quality, and ensure market transparency in organic cotton farming across Baluchistan and Punjab.

3. Hybrid Energy Powered Smart Irrigation System

With support from UKRI, SAWiE introduced a smart irrigation system that integrates solar and wind energy to reduce carbon emissions and improve water efficiency in agriculture.

4. Farm to Fashion Traceability Platform

A revolutionary system ensuring sustainability and transparency in the cotton supply chain by enabling traceability from farm gate to fashion brands, integrating AI-driven insights.

5. SAWiE Carbon Credit Scheme 2024

Partnering with Core Carbon Canada, SAWiE registered over 200 farmers and thousands of trees under a carbon credit program to help farmers monetize their sustainable practices.

6. International and National Engagements

     Global Participation

  • COP29 (Baku, Azerbaijan): SAWiE launched RAAP and won the 2nd Runner-Up GreenTech Hub Award.
  • COP16 (Riyadh, Saudi Arabia): CEO Dr. Khalid Mahmood delivered a keynote on youth-led climate action.
  • International Soil and Water Forum 2024 (Bangkok): SAWiE showcased innovations in AWD irrigation and climate-smart agriculture.
  • 3rd Global Sustainable Rice Conference 2024: SAWiE engaged with policymakers to promote sustainable rice farming.

  • Digital Agriculture Consortium Launch: SAWiE played a leading role in fostering Pakistan’s digital agriculture ecosystem.

  • GIS & Climate Modelling Workshop: Hands-on training for satellite-based agricultural analysis.
