In celebration of World Food Day, SAWIE is hosting a special event on October 16th, 2024, with the theme “Rights to Food for a Better Life and a Better Future.” This global day of action is dedicated to raising awareness about the importance of access to safe, nutritious, and sufficient food for all. It highlights the need for robust food systems that prioritize sustainability, equity, and resilience, particularly in the face of growing challenges like climate change, environmental degradation, and rising food insecurity.

World Food Day, observed annually by the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), reminds us that hunger and malnutrition remain widespread issues that demand urgent attention. Despite the significant progress made in agricultural advancements, millions of people worldwide still face food shortages. This event encourages dialogue and action toward achieving food security and the eradication of hunger through innovative agricultural practices and policy reforms.

Our event will feature expert speakers who will discuss various aspects of sustainable food production and the challenges facing global and local food systems. The panel includes Dr. Engr. Muhammad Sultan, Associate Professor at Bahauddin Zakariya University Multan, Dr. Aayesha Riaz, Associate Professor at PMAS Arid University Rawalpindi, and Dr. Wajid Nasim Jatoi, Professor at Islamia University Bahawalpur. They will share their insights on the intersection of climate change, modern agricultural techniques, and how we can ensure access to food for future generations.

This event is open to farmers, students, researchers, and enthusiasts who are passionate about creating a sustainable and equitable food system. Participants will have the opportunity to engage in discussions about agricultural innovation, climate-smart farming, and policy initiatives that can ensure food security for all.

Join us in celebrating World Food Day and contribute to shaping a future where food is not a privilege, but a basic right for every human being.
